The Recording Academy announced the 25 new musical works that will be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and N.W.A's Straight Outta Compton was on the list.

Hip Hop has certainly come a long with the Grammys.  In 1989, Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff won the first ever Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance for "Parents Just Don't Understand," but refused to attend the show because the rap categories weren't televised.

Now, many years later, N.W.A will be in the Grammy Hall of Fame chilling next to David Bowie and Elvis Presley. According to the Recording Academy, an album or song has to be at least 25 years old to be considered.

"The GRAMMY Hall Of Fame represents all genres of music, acknowledging the diversity of musical expression for which The Academy has become renowned," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy. "Memorable and inspiring, these recordings are proudly added to our growing catalog and are an integral part of our musical, social and cultural history."
