Mariah Carey's rap ties go back a while, and throughout her lengthy career, the R&B singer has always kept a hip-hop collab in her back pocket. On Thursday (Oct. 18), the pop star continues the trend with her new single "The Distance" featuring Ty Dolla $ign.

The mellowed track, created by Lido, Skrillex and Poo Bear, packs some punch with dreamy chords and a head nod-inducing drum pattern. The songstress croons about going all the way with her lover. "Ain't nobody stopping us/What we have is dangerous/Left they opinions in the dust/Said can't nobody fuck with us," Carey croons on the first verse. "They'll never find a way to make us fade away/Our love won't fade away (no)/They'll never find a way to make us fade away/Our love won't fade away."

Ty Dolla helps out on the chorus and tackles his own verse. "We've been goin' all the way, ay/For the longest (ooh yeah)/We're too strong (too strong)!/We're too silent (ooh yeah)/They can't stop it now (ooh)/We in Prada now (ooh)/Fuck all their comments (fuck all their comments)/They be so toxic," he rhymes.

"The Distance" will reside on Carey's upcoming Caution album, which is set to be released on Nov. 16.

Last year, MC linked up with YG on the breakup track "I Don't." She also hopped on French Montana's "Unforgettable (Remix)."
