It's Columbus Day! And, what does it really mean? It means banks are closed and school is out? Many countries celebrate the day as the anniversary of Christopher Columbus's arrival in the Americas, which occurred on October 12, 1492, and is an official holiday. The day became became a federal holiday in 1937. Interersting fact; Hawaii, Alaska, and South Dakota are the three states that do not recognize Columbus Day.
