Turn on the television on any given night and there will be at least one reality show where people audition for a shot at making it big in the music, TV or movie industry!

Watch American Idol, The Voice, America’s Got Talent and you’ll see that the audition is one of the most difficult, but most crucial steps on your road to fame so how do you make sure you do your best? Here are some tips on auditioning.

• The experts say the first thing you should do is be prepared as you only have one chance to make a first impression.
• You should be ready to answer the famous (or daunting) question, “Tell me about yourself.” It’s also important to know when to stop talking.
• Look your best, but keep it simple. Don’t assume you can or should wear the latest trends in fashion and remember, keep your Victoria’s Secret a secret and wear your lingerie under your clothes.
• It’s important to be polite at all times as in saying, “Yes sir, no sir, yes ma’am, no ma’am.”
• Don’t take your BFFs or BFs to your audition and keep your pets at home, even if the little guy or girl fits in your purse.
• Do not chew gum during the audition and unless it’s an absolute emergency, never use your cell phone at an audition.
