Today, Sept. 6, Baton Rouge, La. rhymer Webbie turns 33!

Born Webster Gradney, Jr., Webbie is known for the certfied gold single "Give Me That" with Bun B, "Bad Bitch" and Boosie's "Wipe Me Down," which was also assisted by Foxx. "Independent" with Boosie and Lil Phat was his biggest song on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 9 in 2008.

The Louisiana hip-hop artist is also a God-fearing man and has spoken at a couple of churches, which he revealed in an interview with The Breakfast Club in 2013. Two years later the "How U Ridin'" rhymer was baptized, which he says was inspired by his talk with the Lord.

In 2016, XXL spoke to Webbie after the tragic shooting death of Baton Rouge's Alton Sterling. Known for selling CDs in the area, Webbie says he knew Sterling for the majority of his life and career. "Everybody needs somebody, you know what I'm saying?" Webbie said. "But God, praise the Lord again, he controls everything," he explained. "Like years and years from now, he already know what's gonna happen, so I hope everybody gets right with God, you know. As a solo soldier, as a solo person, get your heart right with God, man. And walk by faith and not by sight, and let's get it."

On the music end, Webbie's been hinting at a sequel to he and longtime friend Boosie's 2003 joint effort, Ghetto Stories. He recently released T4l (Trill 4 Life) with Joeazzy in April. The seven-track mixtape has a guest appearance from Bun B and is led by the single "Smile."

Happy Birthday, Webbie!
