This past Father’s Day was pretty epic. I’ve had some good ones over the years. My son is 11 years old and they get better with age fo sho!

Am I then only parent who actually doesn’t get sad when I think about how big his child has gotten? I think they get more awesome the older they get. This one was one for the books because I have actually been waiting to do this with him since before he was born. My son’s name is Dravyn and he was named after the main character in The Crow played by Brandon Lee (Bruce Lee’s Son).

Bruce Lee is one of my childhood hero’s not only because of his fighting but because of his amazing quotes and philosophies on life and success. The Crow was one my favorite movies and Dravyn’s mother shared the same taste. It’s a great story of how far someone would go to exact a wrong done to their loved one. The main character literally came back from the dead for revenge after he and his fiancé were brutally attacked and killed the day before their wedding. You best believe that if someone were to harm Dravyn his mother and I both would do the same. His mom and I even had rings with quotes from the movie etched in them that read “Real Love Never Dies”. This father’s day was extra special because Dravyn and I sat and watched The Crow together and he got to see the awesome character he was named after for the first time.

I debated on if this was the appropriate age for him to see this R rated movie but let’s be real, he’s seen far worse movies that I have no idea he’s seen. He’s almost 12 and going into Jr. High next year. We can’t protect them forever and all you can do is hope you’ve given them enough common sense to know right from wrong. I hope all of you had a great father’s day. I know I did.
