BET is throwing some serious shade towards the Billboard Music Awards after the show epically failed with its tribute to Prince.

"Yeah, we saw that. Don't worry. We Got You," read the caption of their ad for the 2016 BET Awards on Sunday night (May 22).

Fans were skeptical when Billboard announced that Madonna would take the stage to honor The Purple One. And their skepticism was met with validation as Madge performed a lackluster version of the Prince-penned ballad, "Nothing Compares 2 U." Even Stevie Wonder's surprise appearance for a duet of "Purple Rain," couldn't save the performance.

Afterwards, Madonna's performance was met with an increasing number of disapproving fans who made sure to tweet their thoughts.

BET is known for putting on great tributes. After Michael Jackson shocked the world and passed away in 2009, the award show reworked their entire plan to honor the King of Pop. Jamie Foxx, who hosted the show that year, came out in MJ's iconic red jacket and glittery silver glove while Janet Jackson shared a few touching words on her brother. Foxx and Ne-Yo also performed "I'll Be There."

One thing is for sure -- fans agree that Prince would approve of BET's petty move and we can't wait to see what they bring forth.
